Hillingdon u3a Special Celebration Event 8th June

We will be celebrating our Silver Anniversary in style at a special event at the Winston Churchill Hall on June 8th at 10am. It will be a fun session with our groups taking the lead. We'll have some VIP speakers to introduce the event, free coffee and cake and a free raffle. A full programme will be published nearer the time.

25th Anniversary Anthology

As a special for the Hillingdon u3a's 25th Anniversary, the Creative Writing Group have written about their favourite things and compiled them in an Anthology for you to download and read at your leisure. Click here to view and download your copy for free.

Anniversary Rambles

Jasia has organised a series of three special rambles to celebrate our Silver 25th Anniversay. They will follow the Queen's Silver Jubilee Walkway that was created to celebrate Queen Elisabeth II Silver Jubilee in 1977. Very apt for our own celebrations.

• February 24th Walk - the first was a circular walk from Leicester Square taking in the sights of Westminster, the South Bank to the Millennium Bridge, then back past St Paul’s, Holborn and Covent Garden.
• March 24th Walk - the second was a linear walk from Barbican station to Moorgate Station taking in the sights of St Paul's, the Millennium Bridge, the South Bank to Tower Bridge, St Katherine's Dock, Bank and Guildhall.
• April 30th Walk - the third was a linear walk from Chancery Lane Station to Holborn Station taking in the sights of Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square and along the north bank of the Thames.

Scottish Dancing Ceilidh

The Scottish Dancing group warmly invites you to join them for a Ceilidh to Celebrate 25 Years of Hillingdon u3a on Tuesday 26th May. It'll be fun for all with easy dances that everyone can join in whilst of course, singing a few Scottish songs.

Anniversay Quiz

Gaynor who is our Quiz Group leader has organised a series of Quiz questions to celebrate this occasion. We hope it will challenge members by setting 25 questions to answer. These were released with 5 in January and then 4 a month from February to June published in our Buzz Newsletter. Open to all members, answers are to be sent to Gaynor, at Secretary@hu3a.org.uk. At the July monthly meeting, we will announce the winner. In the case of multiple people getting all 25 answers correct, the names will be put into a hat and the winner drawn at the meeting. As well as the kudos of being known as a master quizzer, there will also be a prize.

'How We started' Podcasts

We are planning to record a series of Podcasts inviting some of our oldest members to come and have a chat about how Hillingdon u3a started in 2001. They'll be recorded and published in audio form for members to listen to. More details to follow.

A Silver Anniversary Dinner and Dance

To celebrate Hillingdon u3a's 25th Anniversary in 2026, the Social Committee had arranged a special Dinner Dance with a DJ at the Dehham Grove Hotel in Tilehouse Lane, Denham. It was held on Saturday 14th March and included a 3 course meal, welcome drink and DJ. We had a sell out and all the members who went had a great time.
