The London Region u3a has announced their new Walks and Visits for June. These are all £10 per person. One walk may be affected by the train strikes. All the details & links are on our Events page.

John had to move the date for his first 2026 Canal History Group's walk. So it's now on Thursday 4th June at 10:30am and is a 7 mile linear along the Beverly Brook Walk which is from Raynes Park to Putney. All the details are on the Events page.

UK u3a's May Podcast Episode No.62 is now available.

Brian is pleased to announce the next London Walk. It's called "Old Camden Town" and will be on 22nd June. We'll meet at Camden Town Underground Station at 10:45am and get a guided tour all around Camden. Hearing stories about some famous people and seeing the busiest and brightest market in town. All the details are on the Events page including the booking link.

It'll be Hillingdon u3a's 25th Anniversary in 2026. Having formed in 2001, we feel we should celibrate this acheivement and have created a special event for the members to be held on the 8th June at 10am in the Winston Churchill Hall. This will be a celebration of all things Hillingdon u3a with groups and members entertaining us. It'll also include free refershments and cake. Make sure you come along, show your support and join the celibrations.

The Monthly Meeting was dominated by the AGM this month. The agenda included approving last years minutes, approving the Financials, adopting the new Constitution, appointing a new Chairman and Committee. The minutes of this meeting with all the details are now on the website on the AGM-2026 page.

Our annual Quiz Night was held on the 18th April and all the members had a good time, (depending on how their results, some more of a good time than others). We've now managed to collate photos and all the results and these can be seen on their own page here.

We have a few groups that are looking for new members. These are the German Intermediate group, Badminton and Singers. You can contact the group leaders via the Group page on this website to ask for either a taster session or to join the group.

The London Region u3a has just released news of some new IT Training Skills Courses on offer for London u3a's in May and June. These are free and held at the BT Office in London (near Aldgate East Station). All the details & links are on our Events page.

The Theatre group are pleased to announce the first Theatre Trip for the new group which is to see The Lion King Musical in London on Wednesday 30th September. It will be via coach to the matinee performance and cost £52 per person (plus booking fee). There are still some places left and all the details and booking link is on the Events page .

Our Scotish Dance group want us all to celebrate Hillingdon u3a's 25th Anniversary with a proper Scottish Ceilidh. It'll be a fun for all dance on Tuesday 26th May at 2pm for just £2 (plus booking fee). Bring some finger food to share and your soft dancing shoes. Full details are on the Events page including the booking which is now available.

UK u3a have some new Online talks for May. These have been added to our Events page.

The 'Call the Midwife' tour is a visit and tour to the TV show filming locations at the Historic Chatham Dockyard. It'll be a coach trip from Ickenham & Uxbridge to Chatham on 8th July leaving at 9:30am & 9:45am for one of two tours at 12pm or 1:30pm. Cost is £40 per person which includes the coach and guided tour. Full details are on our Events web page.

The group leader, Raj wants to let you know that the group is now having fun and meets on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month in Rickmansworth Sport Centre. See it's group page for all the details and to contact Raj

The Murder Mystery Group is now meeting in Ickenham on the first Tuesday every month. The plan is to play a Murder Mystery game or something similar. eg. The Traitors board game, Cluedo, Treasure trails, etc If this interests you then contact Zahra via this link Groups Co-ordinator

Hillingdon u3a put up a team of 5 volunteers to man tables in stints outside Waitrose in Ruislip to collect for the 2025 RBL Poppy Appeal. They collected an amazing £25,000 during a number of days. You can see a few photos here.

As well as the independent u3a's in the country like Hillingdon, there are also some Regional Networks. A Network brings a group of local u3a's together for the mutual benefit all the included members. Hillingdon is part of the London Region of u3a's which has 43 u4a's and 26,000 members. They aim to provide extra support, networking opportunities to share experience, knowledge and ideas. They also arrange events and some of us have been on their walks.

u3a Communities, a free on-line platform for enquiring minds. It hosts a number of subject based groups who meet on-line monthly. It is independent of the Third Age Trust. They'll have an October external webinars programme of which most are free but a few may ask for an optional donation (these are shown in brackets after the subject title). Let me intoroduce you to the u3a's Interest Groups Online (IGO). This is an online only u3a community that gives you the opportunity to join groups, talks and courses from the comfort of your home. There is a wide variety of over 100 peer led, online learning opportunities for any u3a member to join. There is a small yearly fee as this is run like any other u3a group.

The Emergency Contact section of our Membership system is missing a large number of members details. It is really important that we have this information so that we know your preferred contact should you become unwell or have an accident when you are with a group.

Please go into your profile on SIMPLE and make sure all your details, including your emergency contact and Gift Aid preference are up to date. It is not difficult to access your profile but for those of you who are not confident or need a refresher we'll be running through the procedure at the April monthly meeting which is being held via Zoom.
