We have a new and exciting craft group. Zahra has started a new group called 'The Art of Pattern Making'. This group will learn how patterns of profound beauty and subtle complexity can be created from the simplest of means and develop practical skills in the arts and crafts world.to create. John's Canal History Group's Beverly Brook Walk has been beaten by the weather again. The Thursday 25th June walk has now been CANCELLED due to the extreme temperatures promised this week. The walk will be rescheduled and the new date published here as soon as it's available.

The announcement of a new Ukulele Beginners group has caused a lot of interest. The group started on the 2nd July and is already full and running a waiting list. So if you still want to learn this instrument get you name put done on the wait list. If you want more details contact Bieneke via the web page.

The London Region u3a has just released the booking links for the new July Summer Walks. These are all £10 per person and all the details are on our Events page. Booking Links are now available.

The latest and final set of Anniversary Quiz Questions that were set by Gaynor to celebrate our 25th Silver Anniversary (maybe a clue there) are now on the Anniversary website page. There is a special prize to the one who gets all the question correct and sends the answers into Gaynor before the July meeting. All the questions and information is here ........ Questions

Some of the London Region u3a Walks and Visits for June are still available . These are all £10 per person. One walk may be affected by the train strikes. All the details & links are on our Events page.

UK u3a's June Podcast Episode No.63 is now available.

It is Hillingdon u3a's 25th Anniversary in 2026. Having formed in 2001, we are celebrating this achievement and have held a number of events including an extra special one for the members on the 8th June. This was a celebration of all things Hillingdon u3a with groups and members entertaining us. It also included free refreshments and home made cake that was especially enjoyed.

The May Monthly Meeting was dominated by the AGM. The agenda included approving last years minutes, approving the Financials, adopting the new Constitution, appointing a new Chairman and Committee. The minutes of this meeting with all the details are now on the website on the AGM-2026 page.

Our annual Quiz Night was held on the 18th April and all the members had a good time, (depending on how their results, some more of a good time than others). We've now managed to collate photos and all the results and these can be seen on their own page here.

We have a few groups that are looking for new members. These are the German Intermediate group, Badminton and Singers. You can contact the group leaders via the Group page on this website to ask for either a taster session or to join the group.

The Theatre group are pleased to announce the first Theatre Trip for the new group which is to see The Lion King Musical in London on Wednesday 30th September. It will be via coach to the matinee performance and cost £52 per person (plus booking fee). This trip is now full and a wait list is in place. All the details and link to be added to the wait list is on the Events page .

The group leader, Raj wants to let you know that the group is now having fun and meets on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month in Rickmansworth Sport Centre. See it's group page for all the details and to contact Raj

Hillingdon u3a put up a team of 5 volunteers to man tables in stints outside Waitrose in Ruislip to collect for the 2025 RBL Poppy Appeal. They collected an amazing £25,000 during a number of days. You can see a few photos here.

As well as the independent u3a's in the country like Hillingdon, there are also some Regional Networks. A Network brings a group of local u3a's together for the mutual benefit all the included members. Hillingdon is part of the London Region of u3a's which has 43 u4a's and 26,000 members. They aim to provide extra support, networking opportunities to share experience, knowledge and ideas. They also arrange events and some of us have been on their walks.

u3a Communities, a free on-line platform for enquiring minds. It hosts a number of subject based groups who meet on-line monthly. It is independent of the Third Age Trust. They'll have an October external webinars programme of which most are free but a few may ask for an optional donation (these are shown in brackets after the subject title). There are many webinars to choose from. Have a look and register for those you might like to join. Webinar List

u3a UK have created a shortened, 'flipbook' version of their latest Third Age Matters Magazine to promote the TAM. You can see it here .............. Shorthened TAM Flipbook version

Let me introduce you to the u3a's Interest Groups Online (IGO). This is an online only u3a community that gives you the opportunity to join groups, talks and courses from the comfort of your home. There is a wide variety of over 100 peer led, online learning opportunities for any u3a member to join. There is a small yearly fee as this is run like any other u3a group.

The Emergency Contact section of our Membership system is missing a large number of members details. It is really important that we have this information so that we know your preferred contact should you become unwell or have an accident when you are with a group.

Please go into your profile on SIMPLE and make sure all your details, including your emergency contact and Gift Aid preference are up to date. It is not difficult to access your profile but for those of you who are not confident or need a refresher we'll be running through the procedure at the April monthly meeting which is being held via Zoom.
