Run the TCS London Marathon with u3a
u3a UK have secured two charity places for the TCS London Marathon on Sunday 25 April 2027. Could you, or someone you know in u3a, take on this iconic race? Jasia has announced October's Ramble. Thursday 29th October, it'll be a 6.5 mile circular walk from Slough to Windsor & back. We'll meet at Uxbridge Bus Station at 10am and catch the 10:15 bus to Slough where the walk will start. It'll finish at Slough Station. Booking essential. Full details on the Events Page.
Zahra wants members to know about another new group that has now formed. It's the Sunday Lunch Club that will be based on the successful Curry Club model and meet once a month to meet friends over a Sunday meal. If this interests you then let Zahra or Andrea - Sunday Lunch know so they can gauge the level of interest.
Zahra is pleased to announce that a new Cribbage group is about to start. If this card game is of interest to you, this new group will be starting on the 9th November from 2pm to 3:30pm in South Ruislip. Contact Christine via the Group page or Zahra via the link on the Contact page.

We have two new reports on the Event/Visit Report page. When we have a Hu3a visit or event, it's asked that someone writes a few lines to let the members know where the group went and a little bit about the trip out. You'll find it as a sub-heading under Events in the menu on the top line. Why not check it out.
u3a are arranging their 2026 Annual Christmas Concert of traditional carols with the Brandenburg Camino Singers. It'll be in St Margaret Pattens Church in Eastcheap London EC3M 1HS on Wednesday December 2nd at 2pm. Cost is £27. Details and booking link are now on our Events page
UK u3a's September Podcast Episode No.66 is now available.
Zahra is pleased to announce that the new Singers and Strummers Group will start on October 20th at 10am . It'll be held once a month on the third Tuesday of the month in Hillingdon. If you love a good sing-a-long then this is the group for you. Contact Geoff for all the details.
We have yet another exciting outing from our Visits team. This one is a visit to Fullers Griffin Brewery in Chiswick on Thursday 12th November meeting at the Brewery Shop at 10:30am. A 'make-your-own-way' visit, it'll cost £24 (plus booking fee) and there are 30 places. All the details are on the Events page.
The London Region u3a Still has some Walks and Visits for October. A couple of these are new dates from postponed walks due to the recent train strikes and hot weather. These are all £10 per person and all the details are on our Events page. Booking Links are now available.

We have a new and exciting craft group. Zahra has started a new group called 'The Art of Pattern Making'. This group will learn how patterns of profound beauty and subtle complexity can be created from the simplest of means and develop practical skills in the arts and crafts world.to create. The announcement of a new Ukulele Beginners group has caused a lot of interest. The group started on the 2nd July and is still welcoming new members. So if you still want to learn this instrument get in contact with Bieneke via the web page.

It is Hillingdon u3a's 25th Anniversary in 2026. Having formed in 2001, we are celebrating this achievement and have held a number of events including an extra special one for the members on the 8th June. This was a celebration of all things Hillingdon u3a with groups and members entertaining us. It also included free refreshments and home made cake that was especially enjoyed.
We have a few groups that are looking for new members. These are the Italian Beginners group, German Intermediate group, Badminton and Singers. You can contact the group leaders via the Group page on this website to ask for either a taster session or to join the group.
As well as the independent u3a's in the country like Hillingdon, there are also some Regional Networks. A Network brings a group of local u3a's together for the mutual benefit all the included members. Hillingdon is part of the London Region of u3a's which has 43 u4a's and 26,000 members. They aim to provide extra support, networking opportunities to share experience, knowledge and ideas. They also arrange events and some of us have been on their walks.
u3a Communities, a free on-line platform for enquiring minds. It hosts a number of subject based groups who meet on-line monthly. It is independent of the Third Age Trust. They'll have an October external webinars programme of which most are free but a few may ask for an optional donation (these are shown in brackets after the subject title). Let me introduce you to the u3a's Interest Groups Online (IGO). This is an online only u3a community that gives you the opportunity to join groups, talks and courses from the comfort of your home. There is a wide variety of over 100 peer led, online learning opportunities for any u3a member to join. There is a small yearly fee as this is run like any other u3a group.
The Emergency Contact section of our Membership system is missing a large number of members details. It is really important that we have this information so that we know your preferred contact should you become unwell or have an accident when you are with a group.
Please go into your profile on SIMPLE and make sure all your details, including your emergency contact and Gift Aid preference are up to date.
