The Local History Group started in 2015 and decided it needed it's own committee due to the varied nature of this topic. The current committe is Janet and Neal who organise our meetings and visits.

This group has studied a variety of topics about the local area – Hillingdon in WW1, the Salvation Army in Yiewsley, the development of the Metropolitan Line and the Building estates which followed, Eastcote House, Pinewood film studios, Lady Bankes school. EMI and the development of industry in Hayes. We have had talks on these and other topics either from outside speakers or from the presentations of our members.

We have also visited the Bunker in Uxbridge, Black Park and the locations used by film and television programmes, Ickenham House, the Manor House and Great Barn at Ruislip, St Mary’s church at Harefield, the Anzac Memorials and Harrow School.

New members are always welcome and any contributions you can make or suggestions for future topics would be very welcome. If you want to join this group even if you want a taster, then contact Janet by clicking on the Group Email link above.
